Services Offered & What You Can Expect

Intake/ Diagnostic Assessment

The intake/diagnostic assessment is your first appointment with Andrea. During this appointment, Andrea will gather background information about you and your presenting problem (what brings you to counseling). The intake is 50 minutes long and we review current symptoms, as well as past history to paint a broad picture of what you may be experiencing now. Also, during this appointment, you will review necessary policies including, but not limited to, confidentiality policy, attendance agreement, and fee schedule. This session is billed at $100.

Treatment Planning

Treatment planning is the first session after your diagnostic assessment. During this 50 minute appointment, you identify 1-3 goals you would like to work on while in counseling. These goals will narrow down to measurable, desirable outcomes. Treatment plans also include the modality to be used by Andrea to assist you in meeting your goals. This session is billed at $85.

Individual Counseling Sessions

This is why you're here! Counseling sessions are where you and Andrea get down to business and dive into your presenting problem and try to build solutions, coping skills, and a plan to navigate this transition in your life. Counseling is hard. But, Andrea is here to walk this journey with you to help you heal and become a better version of yourself, You may laugh, you may cry. Regardless, you are going to experience change as long as you are willing and open to the process. These sessions are billed at $85 per 50 minutes.

What is a LPC?

LPC stands for “Licensed Professional Counselor.” A counselor with the LPC credential has at least a master’s degree and is an entry level counselor in the state of Ohio.

How do I know online counseling is for me?

You will know online counseling is for you if you are a busy individual who just can’t justify driving to an appointment in bad weather, you don’t have a babysitter, you work varying hours, or you simply like the convenience of seeing someone from the comfort of your home. Also, online counseling could be for you if you do well with technology and are a quick learner. You may also feel comfortable in front of a camera.

How do I know online counseling is NOT for me?

Online counseling with Essential Counseling, LLC is not a fit for individuals who are court ordered, have a history of or active suicidal ideation, current self-harming behaviors, history of schizophrenia spectrum or psychotic disorder diagnoses, history of or active psychosis, severe or complex trauma reactions/symptoms, active substance abuse, and/or who have active eating disorders. Also, online counseling may not be a fit for individuals who have trouble with technology or are uncomfortable in front of a camera. If any of these apply to you, it may be beneficial to seek out a local therapist who you can see face-to-face in an office setting.

What is online counseling?

Online counseling, teletherapy, or telemental health is the delivery of mental health counseling or therapy via an electronic medium. This includes text-based and video-based delivery. With regards to Essential Counseling LLC, we will be utilizing a HIPAA compliant video platform to conduct counseling sessions via webcam on your computer or smartphone (although a computer - desktop or laptop- is preferable. All services will be conducted via video chat.

You will need internet access, a webcam connected to your computer, a microphone (your computer’s built-in mic is fine), headphones/ earbuds, a silent and private space, a knowledge of the technology, an open mind, and a willingness to work.

What do I need?

There is no predetermined number of sessions you may need. The amount of sessions depend on a number of things. This includes what you are coming to counseling for and your progress towards your goals.

How many sessions do I need?

At this time I do not take insurance as I feel it forces me to diagnose you. Plain and simple, if you do not meet criteria for a diagnosis, I will not give you a diagnosis. I can provide you with documentation if you wish to try to be reimbursed for services by your insurance company.

Can I use my insurance?

Initial/Diagnostic Assessments are $100 for 50 minutes and ongoing 50 minute sessions are $85 per session.

How much do you charge?
